Description

Located on the historic Johnsons Ranch along the historic Santa Fe Trail, the cozy allure of this two-bedroom home defies you not to fall in love with it. Suitable for up to two couples, this old school cottage is a perfect balance of rustic charm with modern amenities where privacy meets convenience with a little bit of local history next door.
You’ll immediately feel swathed in traditional southwest style as you enter this adobe-style home with its traditional plaster walls bookended with wood beamed ceilings and knotty barn board floors. A quartet of carved wood pillars accents a seating area in front of a large fireplace with reclaimed wood mantle. The living room area was designed for comfort with a full dark brown leather sofa, perfect for sitting and watching TV or enjoying the beautiful floor-to-ceiling view through glass doors.
Off the living room, the master suite boasts a rustic wood posted queen-sized bed with stamped tin headboard. A pair of antique Victorian bureaus offers more than ample storage, while closets are located in the adjacent bathroom, which features a basin sink, Jacuzzi tub and terracotta floors.
The second bedroom provides even more storage space with a double closet. A queen- sized bed with dark leather headboard offers the ideal place to hunker down as you watch a movie on the room’s large scree TV. A second full bathroom is located just a few steps down the hall.
A long patio spans the outdoor and is accessible from both bedrooms and the living room.
In the kitchen you’ll find warm terra cotta floors, lots of wood cabinets and pantry space, white marble counters — all accented with new stainless steel appliances that include a six-burner gas stove and oven, large refrigerator and dishwasher.
An island with a pair of high stools is all that separate the open kitchen from the spacious dining room, which can easily accommodate a dinner for eight.
As an added bonus, the property is located next to a picturesque church. Built in the late nineteenth century, and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1995, the Nuestra Señora de Luz was established as a mission church to accommodate people who couldn’t make it to the local parish. Masses are still held once a month by a priest from St. Anthony’s parish in Pecos.

Gorgeous rental, top notch finishes, linens, appliances furniture and decor. Very comfortable. Highway access but you never hear the Hwy once inside. We thought the view from patio was nice. Germaine is very responsive and caring. A big thumbs up!

A little slice of heaven just outside Santa Fe! My friends and I loved that the place has been lovingly and stylishly renovated and decorated. I was dying to know the history of it, as it appears to be the parish priests house, attached to an equally charming tiny historic church. The back porch has amazing views of the hills in the day and of the stars at night. The sheets and towels were super soft. The kitchen is much better stocked than your typical AirBnB, and the host had left a stuffed animal for the toddler who was traveling with us, which was a thoughtful touch.

We absolutely loved this place. It's an old priest's house next to a historic church from the 1800s. The renovation was done so tastefully. All the old doors, beams and floors were preserved but with clean, modern and updated details, appliances and amenities. The company that runs this knows how to do it right: nice cookware and knives, soft linens, good soap, all the details you might look for in a vacation rental. The home is set right into the hills with lovely views out the back. It is right off the highway but with the doors closed you can barely hear cars going by. The back bedroom felt secluded and country-quiet. While it's about 20+ minutes from downtown Santa Fe, we didn't mind the drive and actually enjoyed getting out of the touristy bustle. Highly recommended!

Beautiful place, super clean, fully equipped and super nice. One of the best I've ever stayed at. Perfect for going away. Close to Santa Fe. It's very private. Close to highway, so will hear the noise but the whole house and backyard is so worth it. Great place. Truly beautiful.

We were honored to be the first guests to stay here! Not only was the home decorated immaculately, but it was more than comfortable for my husband, two dogs and I! So much so we made sure to make dinner at the house every night so we could enjoy the quiet and the fireplace. I found our stay to be more than what we expected. The drive into town was quick and we were able to escape right back to your cozy house easily. Thank you for the beautiful flowers upon arrival and for being a wonderful host. We will be back!
