Description

This charming, thick-walled adobe home is 1100 square feet and stands just above a fork in the road where Magdalena Street begins rising toward Fort Marcy Park. It is situated under a grand, old elm which shades the home, terrace, and private outdoor areas from the summer sun. At just 2.5 blocks from Santa Fe’s historic Plaza, The Magdalena House offers pleasant views over downtown, while the terrace provides glimpses of the Sandia Mountains to the south. The thick rounded adobe walls and brick floors celebrate architecture traditional to the area, and provide a sense of groundedness. Delightful decor, gorgeous tapestries, and rustic furnishings make this home a pleasurable and cozy place to recharge after a busy day of work or sightseeing.

There are two lovely bedrooms, each with a comfortable king-sized bed, private sink, flat screen TV, and charming furniture. The full bath is in the hallway, easily accessible from both bedrooms, and is graced with Mexican Talavera tile. It features a tub/shower combo, toilet, and small sink.

The colorful living room features whimsical, crimson furniture and a giant flat screen TV. It’s the perfect place to curl up with a book while warming by a soothing fire in either the traditional kiva fireplace or the rustic-looking modern, gas fireplace.

Tucked between the kitchen and the living area lies the separate dining area, made inviting with a traditional Mexican Equipale dining set. Please note: the lovely, curved archway between the living and dining area is quite low, so guests above 6 feet may need to duck a bit.

The brightly colored kitchen features a gas stove, full-size refrigerator, electric toaster oven, and microwave. In an alcove adjacent to the kitchen is a stacked washer and dryer for guests’ convenience.

There are two outdoor areas for relaxation - two comfortable chairs facing a clay chiminea (freestanding fireplace), as well as a private outdoor dining area for four, surrounded by a 100-year-old cedar coyote fence. A gas grill makes it the perfect place to prepare favorite recipes in the beautiful outdoors.

Guests will treasure the soft lines of the adobe, the fantastic views, the absolute convenience of the location, and the unique opportunity of spending time in this venerable Santa Fe neighborhood.

This place is an absolute gem! It's close to the Plaza and a lot of other amenities are nearby or within a short driving distance. The decor was brilliant, it was clean, well kept and I'd stay here again.

The location is PERFECT! We, unfortunately, were only able to spend two nights in Santa Fe after a cross-country trip but this place afforded an ease of access to downtown Santa Fe as well as a quick walk to the railroad station neighborhood. The kitchen is so well-equipped making a long stay very easy. Nothing was lacking in this house to make one's stay in Santa Fe enjoyable and comfortable!

Overall, we enjoyed our stay. A few things: I would recommend to re-wash or provide new bed spreads. We noticed the bed spreads had spots on them and appeared to be stained or dirty. The lights inside the house were very dim making the house feel very dark at times. I would look to increase the voltage of the light bulbs or provide more lamps inside the house to create extra lightening options. Lastly, it would be extra special if you provided firewood for guests that are staying in this home and want to spend time outside. We purchased wood but other homes we've stayed at in New Mexico provide free firewood as a nice addition. I think that would be extra special if you would start doing that. Thanks!
